Coming down out of the freezing sky with its depths of light, like an angel, or a Buddha with wings, it was beautiful, and accurate, striking the snow and whatever was there with a force that left the imprint of the tips of its wings — five feet apart — and the grabbing thrust of its feet, and the indentation of what had been running through the white valleys of the snow — and then it rose, gracefully, and flew back to the frozen marshes to lurk there, like a little lighthouse, in the blue shadows — so I thought: maybe death isn’t darkness, after all, but so much light wrapping itself around us — as soft as feathers — that we are instantly weary of looking, and looking, and shut our eyes, not without amazement, and let ourselves be carried, as through the translucence of mica, to the river that is without the least dapple or shadow, that is nothing but light — scalding, aortal light — in which we are washed and washed out of our bones. A Step in the Dark.......New Challenge

Here I am again with another design team make. This make is for the fabulous team over at A Step in the Dark. This is a facebook challenge and I hope that you will pop over and join in the fun. A new challenge has just begun and will run for the next month..as always it just has to be a dark side make. All details can be found on the facebook page.

For this challenge we are lucky enough to have been sponsored by the fabulous team over at Ikes Art. I just had to work with this image of the saucy fairy...she had on the killer heels that I never get to wear..lol

I'm quite amazed that I have managed to get this blog post up..with all the trouble that BT are giving us here in the village. All over Christmas we have had hardly any decent internet. If it went any slower it would be on stop..oh hold on a minute..it does that as well. I'm building up to yet another complaint. All I have seen over the Christmas break is adverts for BT and how good their service is...what a joke. Perhaps if you live in London or some of the other larger cities..but here in the country..they don't seem to bother. The other thing that gets me is that we have to pay the same amount for the slowest speed in the country.

Well the coffee is calling again and then it will be time to go downstairs and cook the dinner. It's roast lamb tonight and all the trimmings. I can smell it cooking and it's driving me mad..lol.So until tomorrow..take care and happy crafting.

A Step in the Dark......New Challenge

Todays makes are design team makes for the fabulous team over at A Step in the Dark. A new challenge has just begun and will run for the next month. The theme is Anything Goes as long as it is a dark side project. For more information just pop over to the facebook page. The image I chose to work with is called kitty cool cat and is from the very talented team over at SLS Lines. This is another cat design which will work with all my other cat designs from their range. I just love the fact that they have so much attitude.

We are lucky enough to have 2 sponsors this month..one being SLS Lines and the other is Ikes Art. For my Ikes Art design, I chose to work with this fabulous image called The Wind Fairy. For this design, I coloured the fairy with my promarkers and painted the background canvas with my acrylic paints.

I also added glitter to the piece of her dress that is blowing in the wind. I love the way that it looks as if the wind is blowing and has caught her dress. She is lucky that she is not here in the mountains today..the chances are that there wouldn't be a lot of her dress left with the way the winds are raging here..lol. I love design that can make you feel what is going on.

I do hope that you will pop over to the facebook page and take a look. We have had some amazing creations over there, that show the wonderful talents of fellow crafters. Some of the makes have just taken my breath away.

Well I'm off to drink some more of my coffee. I've just fed the kittens again and now hopefully they will be asleep for an hour. I can live in hope..lol. At the moment they are all on the blanket that is covering my legs. There still seems to be a bit of rough and tumble going on...but it does seem to be slowing down. I will be back again in a minute with my final design team make of the day..so see you soon.

A Step In The Dark....Deadly Nightshade

Todays creation is a design team make for the fabulous team over at A Step in the Dark. A new challenge has just begun and will run for a month. It is a facebook challenge so why not pop over and take a look.

We are so lucky to have been sponsored by the wonderful team over at Delicious Doodles./

There are just so many images in the shop that I would love to work with and it's always so difficult to choose. The image that I have used is called Deadly Nightshade and I just had to do this one, which fits in so well with my love of all things Goth. I have coloured the image with my promarkers and have highlighted some little areas with a clear glaze pen. As most of you know, I do have a passion for strangely coloured hair, usually doing blue, green or purple. But for this one I decided to go pink to contrast the purple of the deadly nightshade flowers. I can remember them growing on the sides of the lane where I lived and being told repeatedly not to touch them by my Grandmother. It used to annoy me because the flowers are so beautiful..I just didn't understand how deadly they are.

Well the coffee is calling and the cats are wanting yet more food. The kittens are getting more and more nosey by the day. When I walk into the parlour in the morning they are all sat in a row watching me. Bumby is the noisiest and has a lot to say..lol. Nosey is still the one who pushes himself forward.
And here he is.....

I will try and get the others on to the blog in the next week. So until next time...take care and happy crafting.

A Step In The Dark....New Challenge

Todays creation is a design team make for the wonderful team over at A Step in the Dark. A new challenge has just begun and will run for a month. The theme is as always is anything goes as long as it is on the dark side.

For this months challenge we have been lucky enough to be sponsored by the fabulous artist that is Shadow Clocksy. If you get the chance please pop over to her facebook page to see all her wonderful artwork and take a visit to her etsy shop.

For my creation I began by painting a background canvas using my acrylic and pearlescent paints. I was intrigued by Shadow Clocksys design of a beautiful womans head with no face. It made me think that if we didn't see someones face would we judge them differently as a person. So many times in this world..outer beauty seems to be all that matters when really we should not be concerned with that but rather what the person is really like inside. I found this quote about beauty which seemed to sum up what I was thinking. I coloured the digi with my promarkers and then added the quote to the face.

All is quiet here in the mountains today. The sun is shining and all the cats are quiet for once. As you all know, I'm on a number of design teams and so enjoy being on them. I'm lucky that they are all very different and I get to enjoy all the different types of art work that I get to do. I have had some delightful images coming through and am excited in thinking how I will get to use them. I count my blessings every day and crafting has helped me so much during these past hard months. I like to think that Henry would be glad to know that I'm continuing to work and loving it.

Well the coffee is calling and I've got to sort out my work for the weekend. I have to make a list and work my way through it. I'm so much happier when I have a long list...it allows me to work on more than one at a time. I tend to have loads in different stages as I'm waiting for others to dry. I often have a couple of canvases drying..trying to keep them away from the cats..lol. As I'm sitting here there are crowds of people walking past...they are groups who are all paying good money to walk the mountains that I am lucky enough to live in. It always makes me laugh when I meet them and they can't believe that people actually live here in somewhere so remote. Each to their own I say...personally I couldn't even imagine living any where else now. I'll head off and help myself to a caffeine hit and then back to work. So until tomorrow...take care and happy crafting.

A Step in the Dark......New Challenge

Todays canvas is a design team make for the fabulous A Step in the dark. It is a facebook challenge, so please pop over and take a look. For this months challenge we were lucky enough to be sponsored by the fabulous team over at SLS Lines. I always feel so lucky when I'm able to work with their images...I love them so much.

As soon as I saw this image, I knew that I had to work with it. This is the second one of their images that I have worked with featuring the feisty cats. As soon as I saw this image, it reminded me of three of my tomcats and the song 'The boys are back in town' kept going round my head..lol. I began by painting the canvas with black acrylic and putting some white lines across it and of course some glitter. I coloured the cats with my promarkers. I finally added some fish skeleton charms, and added some thread going from the ball of yarn. The canvas is now living on the stairs wall in my cottage.

I do hope that you will come on over and join in the fun at the A Step in the Dark facebook page.

What a weekend it was. It was the Midgestock weekend in the village..a weekend of music and performances. Lots of people telephoned me remembering Henry and Henry's best friend came for the weekend..it was so nice to know that they were thinking of Henry. And of course there was the arrival of the still unnamed cat. She has settled into the emergency pen. I will try and get a photo of her to put on the blog. She has a very long neck and has black lines on her fur which look as if she is wearing a mans collar...all she needs is a little tie..lol. At the moment she is curled up asleep and quiet. I find it amazing that I have such a number of talkative cats. She has a lot to say and seems to want to chat. My friends have cats and they seem to never say a word but my tribe have a comment on most things..lol. Twinkle makes a noise that sounds just like she is saying oh no ..which is really funny. Jeffrey comes in having a right moan about everything and Pinkie has an opinion on absolutely everything. And now the nameless one has joined in the chaos..lol

Well the coffee is calling and I've got a number of projects to finish and cards to finish. I need to get my head in gear and get on with it.It takes me a while to get into gear as I'm not sleeping very well. But that seems to come and go in waves. I think that I'm just in a particular wave. BT have continued to be a pain..not giving me enough speed to even to get on the internet..let alone be able to blog. So until tomorrow..take care and happy crafting

A Step in the Dark....Butterflies and Tangle

Hello everyone..here I am with my first blog of the day. This is my design team make for the fabulous design team for A Step in the Dark. This is a facebook challenge with a theme of Anything Goes as long as it is a dark side creation. The Challenge runs for a month and please consider joining in. I just love being part of this team because I get to experiment with different looks. The rest of the team have created some fabulous makes and are a great source of inspiration.

We are lucky enough to be sponsored for this month by the wonderful team over at Stitchy Bears Digi Outlet. Everytime I go to have a look around their store, I'm lost. There are just so many fabulous designs..I just don't know where to start.

The image that I have decided to work with for this month is called Butterfly profile. It just called to me to be a perfect design to tangle...so that's what I did. As most of you know, I adore the art of zentangle and have to say that Sparkle says that it's the only time I'm really quiet..lol. I just find it so relaxing.I decided to use one of my favourite sayings...Never settle for anything less than butterflies. I have coloured the butterflies with my glaze pens..mainly so that they would stand out beside all the tangles. I'm thinking to myself that I may put this into a frame and put it in the bathroom. I'm quickly running out of wallspace in the house..lol

Well the coffee is calling and I'll be back shortly with another design team make. I hope you will pop over to the A Step in the Dark facebook page and join in the fun. So until later...take care and happy crafting.

A Step in the Dark...Poe Canvas

Today's canvas is my first project for my new design team..A Step in the Dark.I have been looking for some where I can try new things and am so happy to be allowed to become part of this wonderful team. Why not pop over to the facebook page and take a look at the other wonderful creations that the design team have made and perhaps think about joining in the fun https://www.facebook.com/groups/629105100496386/?fref=nf
The fabulous sponsor for this month is Ikes Art http://www.ikesart.com/#!__digital-art-stamps  .. they have a fabulous array of digital art work to choose from. The wonderful prize for this months challenge is 5 digital images. I wish I could enter myself..lol.
I loved this image of Edgar Allen Poe holding the candlestick and decided to make a canvas with the image. The image of Poe, I coloured with my promarkers and a normal pencil. I used the pencil to add the shading on his face. For the background, I coloured my canvas with my H2os and added the outside trees with a black promarker.  The saying is one that I love..because I have always considered myself to be a little weird..but I am happy in that space.
Well the coffee is calling and I will be back again later with another piece of work. If you need to know anything else about this new challenge, just leave your question and I'll get back to you. All the rules for the current challenge are on the facebook page. I hope that you will join in. The challenge at A Step in the Dark runs all month, So until later...BT willing of course..take care and happy crafting
