Coming down out of the freezing sky
with its depths of light,
like an angel, or a Buddha with wings,
it was beautiful, and accurate,
striking the snow and whatever was there
with a force that left the imprint
of the tips of its wings — five feet apart —
and the grabbing thrust of its feet,
and the indentation of what had been running
through the white valleys of the snow —
and then it rose, gracefully,
and flew back to the frozen marshes
to lurk there, like a little lighthouse,
in the blue shadows —
so I thought:
maybe death isn’t darkness, after all,
but so much light wrapping itself around us —
as soft as feathers —
that we are instantly weary of looking, and looking,
and shut our eyes, not without amazement,
and let ourselves be carried,
as through the translucence of mica,
to the river that is without the least dapple or shadow,
that is nothing but light — scalding, aortal light —
in which we are washed and washed
out of our bones.

JB-Crafting Supplies....The Loo Roll Book
Today's creation is a design team make for the wonderful JB-Crafting Supplies. I have had so many messages about this little book that next week I shall be doing a step by step blog on the JB-Crafting Supplies blog page. This little tag book is made using empty loo roll cardboards as the tag holders. I saw it made on the tv and thought to myself what a brilliant idea. I liked the fact that it was a small book that you could decorate to save anything special. I have made this one to hold pictures of the kittens first year..I just have to add the photos. But you could make a little book to save some special memories..a birthday, a trip out some where..or even pictures of your garden through the year. So if you are one of the ladies that messaged me about this little book..please start collecting your empty cardboard rolls and I will do a step by step make next week. If you need any papers or embellishments, please pop over to Julie at JB-Crafting Supplies and she is bound to find what you either need or want.

JB Crafting Supplies.....Where a thought can take you
Todays creations are all design team makes for the wonderful JB-Crafting Supplies. Yesterday I decided to make a mixed media piece but got carried away and ended up making four finished projects and a large one which is till a work in progress. The first two makes today are 2 small canvasses that I had painted with my acrylics. I added three layered flowers and used a black peeloffs as stems. I finally stamped a different sentiment on both.
Now the two cards below came about totally by accident. I had painted my flowers using my H2Os, using another piece of paper to keep things tidy. When I had finished painting...I looked at the waste paper and loved the way in which the colours had mixed..so I decided to use it. I used one of my flower stamps and stamped the image onto the waste paper. I then cut them out and created two cards using these flowers.

JB-Crafting Supplies Just a piece of Paper.
Todays cards are all design team makes for the wonderful JB-Crafting Supplies. I created all the backgrounds with distress inks and a piece of paper. I had a play the other day just creating backgrounds. Some paper I just inked directly, some I crumbled before inking and on some others I used glossy card. I then cut various shapes out, stamped them and mounted them to create the cards. I loved playing with the inks and then just seeing what I could create. Some I sprayed metallic inks on and some others I added some mica powders..just had a really good play..which I have to admit...I loved every moment.
The weather here today in the mountains is glorious. The sky is blue with white fluffy clouds. The type of clouds that when I was a child, I used to lie in the fields looking at and imagining what they looked like. Fluffy bunnies seemed to feature quite a bit..lol. I can't see any bunnies today but I'll keep looking.
All the cats have deserted me..they are all lay out on the studio roof. They keep coming in to have a little nibble of their food and then they go straight back out. Last night, when I went to bed there wasn't a cat in the house. But when I woke in the middle of the night..the three kittens were all curled up round me. Nosey is getting more and more like a little dog. He likes to lie at the top of the stairs so that he doesn't miss anything. If he happens to be outside when he hears someone arrive..he will run in to see who it is..and then just leaves again. He certainly lives up to his name..lol
Well the coffee is calling and Sparkle has arrived to fix my computer for me. I seem to have lost a whole programme and I don't know how to get it back. He has just put the kettle on..so my timing is perfect..lol. So until tomorrow...take care and happy crafting.

JB-Crafting Supplies.....Country Chickens
Today's cards are design team makes for the wonderful JB-Crafting Supplies. They showcase this wonderful set of stamps from Hobby Art. The set is called Cockadoodledo .
What I really love about this set is the fact that you can also build a country side image as well as the cockerel, hen and chick. You also get the stamp that enables you to create the chicken wire..which will be so handy in lots of my mixed media work. The chicken wire stamp comes in two different sizes and is really easy to join..so you can make a fence as small or as large as you need. All the sentiments that I have used are also from a Hobby Art set. For both of these cards, I have used my watercolours...but you could use any of your colouring mediums. If you have any of the Hobby Art scenic sets..you could also use them to extend your countryside views. I stamped all the images using my Versafine inkpad..but if I was going to use my promarkers or copics, then I would always use my Memento inkpad.
I had great fun colouring the cockerel. He reminded me of a cockerel that my Grandmother had when I was a little girl. This particular cockerel seemed to me to be enormous and goodness me he had a bad temper. I can remember the fantastic colours that he had...most of all I can remember the sun shining on his tail feathers and the colours contained there. To try and describe it is just too hard but it was a cross between blue and green with all the colours between.I was always fascinated by the colours and always wanted to see him..but he wasn't impressed with little girls and would chase me the length of the yard.If you can imagine a chubby little girl in a flowery dress and wellies running for her life...that was me..lol

JB-Crafting Supplies....Garden Birds
Today's cards are design team makes for the wonderful JB-Crafting Supplies. I have been lucky enough to get to work with this fantastic set of stamps from Hobby Art. This is the garden birds set. For these cards, I stamped the images with my Versafine ink pad and then coloured the images with my Lyra watercolours. So many of my friends are into bird watching..either out and about or just at their own bird tables..so there's lots of scope for making cards for them.

JB-Crafting Supplies...Dreaming Big
Today's creations are both design team makes for the wonderful JB-Crafting Supplies I wanted to share my two makes with you . The first one is a plaque that I have made using a MDF blank. I kept seeing these words on lots of home decor items and thought..I could do that..lol. I first began with the blank plaque and painted it with some light green acrylic paint. I then added some torn papers..the paper was from a pad from the selection at JB-Crafting Supplies. I then inked the edges with distress ink in a green..I do have a bit of a thing for green..as I'm sure you all know by now..lol. The letters that I used on the plaque were from an alphabet that I've had lurking in my stash for a couple of years..but I'm sure that Julie at JBCS could source some for you. I finally added some die cut flowers from my stash. If you don't have a diecutting machine you can of course make your own flowers in any way you like. There are lots of templates out there...looking through my stash, I have a few that I had totally forgotten about. I'm going to put this plaque on the wall in my parlour.
And now for my second make...I just had to share the story with you all. The picture is of a cushion cover that has only taken 40 years to finish. My Grandmother began this in the 1960's and I can remember her sitting sewing it. Sadly my Grandmother died in the 70's and all her embroidery got packed away..boxes of half finished projects. Now my Mother was a hoarder and all the boxes of embroidery and sewing moved house with her about 5 times. She passed away in 2004 and I had the job of sorting all her belongings and I moved the boxes to my house. Well I decided that the time had come to go through the final boxes that had been in my loft for the last 12 years. I went through the remaining boxes and came upon the box of my Grandmothers sewing. I had to smile..there was pieces of Crimplene..the wonder fabric of the 60's and 70's..and they are so in trend now..lol. The colours are as vibrant as ever..I may even make a top up using some of it. I also found lots of rolls of daisy edging and rick rack edging..I can remember it on my dresses. Then I dug deeper and found this cushion cover..half finished but with all the threads still in the bag. So I finished it and it's now about to sit on my couch. You can tell where I've stitched because the thread edges can be seen..where as where my Grandmother had stitched they have sort of blended. But as I look at it..it takes me back to the days when I was a little girl, sitting talking to my Grandmother whilst she stitched. Happy memories. So if you have anything that has been sitting around for a while, I would encourage you to finish it.
