Coming down out of the freezing sky with its depths of light, like an angel, or a Buddha with wings, it was beautiful, and accurate, striking the snow and whatever was there with a force that left the imprint of the tips of its wings — five feet apart — and the grabbing thrust of its feet, and the indentation of what had been running through the white valleys of the snow — and then it rose, gracefully, and flew back to the frozen marshes to lurk there, like a little lighthouse, in the blue shadows — so I thought: maybe death isn’t darkness, after all, but so much light wrapping itself around us — as soft as feathers — that we are instantly weary of looking, and looking, and shut our eyes, not without amazement, and let ourselves be carried, as through the translucence of mica, to the river that is without the least dapple or shadow, that is nothing but light — scalding, aortal light — in which we are washed and washed out of our bones. Crafting Musketeers....New Challenge

Todays cards are design team makes for the wonderful team over at The Crafting Musketeers. A new challenge has just begun and will run for the next month. The theme for this months challenge is 'Back to School'..because I think that there are a lot of parents that need to celebrate this fact. I chose to make two cards..the first one is made from the Joanna Sheen Hollypond Hill cdrom and the second one is from the triple House Mouse cdrom, also from Joanna. I love the rabbit skipping along and as it says..not a care in the world..and I can remember feeling like that when I was little. I was always being told off at school for day dreaming and not paying attention..I have to admit..I was always dreaming..lol. I hope that you will pop over to the Crafting Musketeers challenge and take a look at all the fabulous creations made by the rest of the team.

We are so lucky this month to have been sponsored by the fabulous team over at Crafty Ribbons. They have such an array of dreamy ribbons and so kindly supplied the design team with some wonderful ribbons to use. If you think ribbons, please pop over to the crafty ribbons website and I can guarantee that you will be spoilt for choice.

As I'm looking out of the window, the mountain is bathed in sunshine...a very rare sight I can tell you. The breeze is quite strong though but it doesn't seem to bother the cats. They are all stretched out on the studio roof..lol. I'm in the mood for hoovering I think..so I'd better go with the flow. I have to say that it's not very often that the mood comes upon me. It will certainly be easier with all the cats outside ...they create holy hell if they're inside...all complaining at me. Gannie in particular seems to tell me off..and he has a very loud voice..lol

Well the coffee is calling  and should I have it before or after. I think after and then I'll have something to look forward to. I also need to sort my work out for the weekend..I think that I may do some heat embossing..it's been a while and that urge has come upon me as well. So until tomorrow..I'm off to do what I've been pondering on. ..take care and happy crafting.

Crafting Musketeers....New Challenge

Today's cards are design team makes for the wonderful team over at the Crafting Musketeers. A new challenge began yesterday and will run for the forthcoming month. The theme for this challenge is Babies and I have so enjoyed making these cards.

We are so lucky to have been sponsored by the fabulous team over at Crafty Ribbons and they were so kind to supply the team with a selection of their wonderful ribbons. The beautiful ribbon that is printed with the baby washing line is from their collection. The range that they supply is amazing and always worth a look.

For both my cards, I have used a retired cdrom from Joanna Sheen called Baby Love. You can sometimes find this cd on Ebay and it is always watching out for. I have had the cd since it was first released and sits in my library of crafting cdroms. If I need a baby card, I always go to this cd.

This is going to be a short blog today as I will have to be back later with another 2 design team makes. I had hoped to get them done yesterday but with everything that was going on and the intermittent internet, I had to leave it all until today. I hope that you will pop over to the Crafting Musketeers Challenge blog and take a look at all the fabulous creations that have been made by the rest of the team.

Well the coffee is really needed today...so I'm off for a top up and will be back in a while. Until then..take care and happy crafting.

The Crafting Musketeers.....New Challenge

Todays cards are design team makes for the wonderful team over at The Crafting Musketeers. A new challenge has just begun and will run for the following month. The theme for this challenge is Use three ribbons. For my first card, I ran with an idea that begun with a team make for JB-Crafting Supplies. I began by stamping and colouring the flower heads. It was surprising to me just how hard it was to use three ribbons on one card..I looked at it as a challenge in itself. I used my first ribbon to ground the flowers and the other two, I used to create the border. For the card below, I used the image, which was a free gift on a magazine. I coloured her with my promarkers. The three ribbons on this card I used to form a base border. The trick that I found useful was to find three different ribbons that matched in some way.
We were so lucky this month to be sponsored by the fabulous team over at Crafty Ribbons. All the ribbons that I have used were supplied to the design team by Crafty Ribbons. I can't believe the variety that they sell. I find it so hard to pick which ones I love the most. If you need ribbons for your stash, I would recommend popping over and taking a look. On a personal note, they have a huge selection of gros grain ribbon...which is my favourite to work with..the bows hold so well.
So I hope that you will pop over to the Crafting Musketeers Challenge Blog and join in the fun. While you're there, take a look at the creations made by the other members of the design team..I always find them a wonderful source of inspiration.
It's really cold here in the mountains today. All the cats are curled up and quiet..that doesn't last for long..lol. The kittens have all curled up with Reg. Bless him..he doesn't get the choice...they just love him. When I've finished blogging I'm off to the kitchen to sort out the frame mountain that has landed. As most of you will know, frames are so expensive and with stuff I make for the house, gifts and the like..it can really add up. Well I was lucky enough to be given about 100 frames..in all sizes from A5 upto A1 and beyond. I have got to sort them out..an artist I know is having some of the very large, some are being sold to raise money for Henry's memorial fund and some are staying for me to use. I can't believe just how lucky I was to be offered these frames..but today it's sort the piles out day..lol
Well the coffee is now calling and I will be back after with another design team make. I've already decided to do fish, salad and boiled potatoes for dinner. I've also decided to make some sultana scones as well while I'm downstairs. It's all my friend Sunshine's fault..she had created the most delicious looking strawberry mousse cake..it made me so jealous and so hungry..lol. So until later..take care and happy crafting.

Crafting Musketeers......Mice in the Snow

Todays card is a design team make for the fantastic teams over at the Crafting Musketeers. A new challenge has just begun and the theme is christmas ribbons. I have to admit to having a bit of a ribbon passion..lol..I think that it began when I was little and had long hair and always had a ribbon in my hair. When I see what is available these days...I would have needed a lie down to cope deciding what to wear.

We have been so lucky this month to have been sponsored by the wonderful team over at Crafty Ribbons. The variety they can supply, just takes my breath away. The design team were lucky enough to have been supplied with ribbons to use on every month that they sponsored and I have loved them all. The ribbon that I have used on my make above was one of them and it is a fabulous groos grain ribbon printed with christmas words and little trees. I love using gros grain ribbon as it holds it shape so well.

For my card I decided to use this little House Mouse image brought to us crafters by Joanna Sheen. It is from the Triple House Mouse cd and features lots of images from the ever talented Ellen Jareckie. As most of you will know..I love all the creatures featured in the House Mouse collection..as well as the Gruffies and Happy Hoppers.I mounted the image and the backing paper onto some silver holographic.I also created a border, to which I added my special ribbon from Crafty Ribbons. I finally added some card candy all over the card.
Well the coffee is calling and I will be later with more design team makes. It's a busy day today. All the cats are sleeping off their breakfasts still. It never ceases to amaze me just how much they put away and they greet me every morning like they've never been fed..lol. They are having a special treat this week with all fish meals..it's absolute mayhem with me trying to get the food out of the tin and all the cats trying to get it out even quicker..I have the scratches to prove it..lol Of them all I think that Nicademus is the worst culprit. He virtually tries to get his head into the tin as I'm trying to get it out. If you could see all my cats you would have no doubt that they have more than enough food but always just act as if they are all starving..lol  While I have a little peace, I'm off to grab my caffeine hit..so until later..take care and happy crafting.

Crafting Musketeers...The Tabby

For the first time ever, I having to redo a blog post. I had this image ready to blog yesterday and had scheduled it to load..but it didn't and has now disappeared altogether. So some where in the ether is a blog post about this beautiful tabby cat, If you see him, please tell him to come home..lol.

This card is a design team make for the fabulous team over at the Crafting Musketeers. This months challenge has the theme Anything Goes. We have been lucky enough to have been sponsored by the great team over at Crafty Ribbons.

The prize for this months challenge is some ribbons. The design team were lucky enough to receive some ribbons to work with..and I have to say that they are fantastic quality. I used this blue ribbon with green dots on my card because they fit in so well with the colours on my card.

My card features this lovely image of the tabby and is from Joanna Sheens cdrom...Leslie Anne Ivory Cats. As a cat lover this has been part of my library ever since it was released. It has since been retired but it is still possible to get hold of on certain selling sites. For the card, I have mounted the image and the backing paper onto some blue card. I created two borders with the same and added the ribbons either side. I then just added a bow.

I hope that you will pop over to the blog and join in the fun. The challenge runs until the end of the month and the design team has produced some wonderful inspiration for everyone to enjoy.

Well now I'm definitely off for a coffee now. And as I said before...take care and happy crafting.

Crafting Musketeers...New Challenge..Ribbons and Pearls

Todays card is a design team for the great team over at The Crafting Musketeers Challenge Blog. This month is sponsored by the fabulous company of Crafty Ribbons and the prize for the winner of Marchs challenge is a £10 voucher. The theme for this month is Ribbons and Pearls. I decided to make this card from a Joanna Sheen cdrom which is Janet Kruskamp..The Collection. There is a collection of cocktail glasses on the cd and chose this one.I have mounted the image onto some black card and then onto some holographic. I created the border using black card, grey and black ribbon and the greeting. The ribbon that I have used was provided by the sponsor and is of wonderful quality...why not pop over and take a look. The ribbon that I've used is a grosgrain which has to be one of my favourite types to use, mainly because it holds it's bow shape so well with no slipping.I have edged the card with a row of pearls on each side. Pearls and cocktails always remind me of the roaring twenties for some reason. Give me a cocktail and I'd probably end up swinging my pearls..lol

I hope that you will consider popping over and joining in this months challenge. As I've said the theme is ribbon and pearls..some of my favourite things to use. This card makes me think of my friend Sunshine..I've known her to make a mean cocktail and many good times have been had. Today two of my friends were on Bargain Hunt, so the whole village has been watching. Personally I think that they were so brave..I'd never have enough guts to do it. But I thought they did wonderfully and best of all...they won.

It's threatening to snow again but we will have to see.At the moment it's hailing and very cold. Sprout is the only feline to brave the elements and I don't think that he'll be out long. All the other furry beasts are in their special places and at least giving me a little peace at the moment. They didn't give me much peace when I was downstairs earlier..lol. I went downstairs to put the slow cooker on and they all wanted to help. I had help washing up with Jeff and Rave deciding to sit on one of the draining boards the whole time. As you've probably guessed, it's spot the meat tonight..lol. The slow cooker has been filled with carrots, onions, celery, tomatoes, parsnips, swede, barley, lentils and peas...with a small amount of minced steak. I shall take some of the contents out tonight, mix with pasta and put a white sauce and cheese on top. I have yet to decide what I will do with rest tomorrow....I may even get 2 more meals out of it but we shall have to see. Maybe will have to add more vegetables..lol

Well the coffee is calling..so I'm heading off for a brew. It's gone so cold, I may have to get the winter socks out..lol..is it spring yet...lol. So until tomorrow..take care and happy crafting.
