Coming down out of the freezing sky
with its depths of light,
like an angel, or a Buddha with wings,
it was beautiful, and accurate,
striking the snow and whatever was there
with a force that left the imprint
of the tips of its wings — five feet apart —
and the grabbing thrust of its feet,
and the indentation of what had been running
through the white valleys of the snow —
and then it rose, gracefully,
and flew back to the frozen marshes
to lurk there, like a little lighthouse,
in the blue shadows —
so I thought:
maybe death isn’t darkness, after all,
but so much light wrapping itself around us —
as soft as feathers —
that we are instantly weary of looking, and looking,
and shut our eyes, not without amazement,
and let ourselves be carried,
as through the translucence of mica,
to the river that is without the least dapple or shadow,
that is nothing but light — scalding, aortal light —
in which we are washed and washed
out of our bones.

The Patchwork Life
I thought that today we would have a break from all the christmas cards that are surrounding me. Todays card features a brilliant stamp from Inkylicious. The background paper is made patchwork style from all those little pieces of pretty paper that we can never throw away. I have done quite a few of these patchwork type cards and always get a thrill doing them. I think it's because I've managed to use something that should have ended up in the bin. The rose embellishment is using a Joanna Sheen stamp.
The large words stamp is one that I use all the time. It is a great message to send to anyone..it's great because it makes you think of things that sometimes get lost in everyday life. As you are doing your washing up, sometimes it's hard to remember how it felt to run barefoot through the sand or grass. How it felt to watch a kite sweep up higher and higher into the sky. How it felt to lie in the long grass, watching the clouds roll by. Sometimes reading these words can bring back happy memories and sometimes it can inspire you to do something different. Something just for you.
I can't believe it's Friday again..time is flying by. I really hope that you have a great weekend...and remember to treat yourself..take care and happy crafting
