Coming down out of the freezing sky with its depths of light, like an angel, or a Buddha with wings, it was beautiful, and accurate, striking the snow and whatever was there with a force that left the imprint of the tips of its wings — five feet apart — and the grabbing thrust of its feet, and the indentation of what had been running through the white valleys of the snow — and then it rose, gracefully, and flew back to the frozen marshes to lurk there, like a little lighthouse, in the blue shadows — so I thought: maybe death isn’t darkness, after all, but so much light wrapping itself around us — as soft as feathers — that we are instantly weary of looking, and looking, and shut our eyes, not without amazement, and let ourselves be carried, as through the translucence of mica, to the river that is without the least dapple or shadow, that is nothing but light — scalding, aortal light — in which we are washed and washed out of our bones. Barkley cuddles

Todays cards feature the wonderful cdrom Barkley from Crafters Companion. Both the cards are 6x6 in size and feature some of the smaller toppers from this cd. Even though there are some fantastic backing papers on the cd..I wanted to have a play around..so I created my own. The backing paper is actually acetate which I coloured myself. I took a piece of clear acetate and coloured the back of it using some alcohol ink pens..I scribbled all over it using four toning colours. I then took some ranger blending solution on a sponge scourer from my kitchen and dabbed it randomly over the coloured acetate. It took only a tiny bit of blending solution and created a fabulous blended pattern. I forgot to tell you that the acetate was heat resistant. I use this type so that I can dry it off using my heat gun and not have a wet piece of acetate lying around where certain nosy little cats can investigate. I then dried the acetate off and added some spray glitter. This piece I cut down to the card size and mounted it onto white card and then that in turn onto red mirror board. I mounted the acetate onto the white card first so the pattern came through really clearly. Depending what colour you mount the acetate onto..it can give a totally different look..so have a play around. I hope that you have a play..seeing what effects you can get is great fun.
I hope that the weather was kind to you all last night. Here it was very calm..in fact it was far worse during the early evening. Today is still calm and all the cats are in and out making up for last night. They must have thought that it was going to be bad as they all stayed in from the early evening..so it was a case of grab a chair quick and stay put..lol
So I'm off now to do some baking..I have no idea what..I'm off to look in my Mary Berry cook book and get some inspiration. But as always coffee first. So take care and happy crafting.
