Coming down out of the freezing sky with its depths of light, like an angel, or a Buddha with wings, it was beautiful, and accurate, striking the snow and whatever was there with a force that left the imprint of the tips of its wings — five feet apart — and the grabbing thrust of its feet, and the indentation of what had been running through the white valleys of the snow — and then it rose, gracefully, and flew back to the frozen marshes to lurk there, like a little lighthouse, in the blue shadows — so I thought: maybe death isn’t darkness, after all, but so much light wrapping itself around us — as soft as feathers — that we are instantly weary of looking, and looking, and shut our eyes, not without amazement, and let ourselves be carried, as through the translucence of mica, to the river that is without the least dapple or shadow, that is nothing but light — scalding, aortal light — in which we are washed and washed out of our bones. A Cool Yule

Todays card is something a bit different for me. I was having a play and came up with this card. I have embossed the background paper with a snowflake design. The border strip across the middle is made using acetate and alcohol ink pens. The tree is a diecut from my stash which I painted with acetate and of course glittered. Finally I added a peeloff which I coloured green with an alcohol. I have made another one using a blue acetate border and layered snowflake

I hope that you like them. I am hoping to have a play again later today. I have an order for 25 christmas cottages which I'm hoping to get finished first. The other night was spent up to my ears in glitter. All 25 cottages needed to glitter..well by the time I'd finished I was covered, the cats and dogs were twinkling and the parlour floor looked as if a fairy party had taken place. Even now I'm twinkling in strange places..lol. Everyone that visits knows that there is always the chance of leaving with a bit of twinkle. The vegetable delivery man had a lot of explaining to do one day..I laughed with his wife because he hadn't noticed the twinkle and had done all his round with the added sparkle. I do wonder what all the other customers thought..lol.
Today in Snowdonia it's been really quite cold and watching the hail bounce has kept the cats entertained. It comes in showers and then it's gone. We even had a rainbow in the middle of it all...stretched all over the valley. Well the coffee is calling and the cottages need to be finished. I hope that you are having a good weekend..keep warm and cosy..until tommorrow take care and happy crafting.

Ditzy days, cats and cards

Today card is an example of how not to take a photo for your blog..lol I was in the middle of removing my nail varnish and suddenley decided to take some photos. As you can see my thumb decided that it wanted to be immortalised in the shot. That's the case when you have too many things floating round your head and you've got a list in your head of things you want to do. So instead of hiding my stupidity..I thought that I'd share the fact that I'm just as ditzy as I sometimes sound!
But now to the card. It's made using the Father Christmas cdrom by Crafters Companion. It's a wonderful cd showing many of the iconic images from the film. For some reason I adore this back view of Santa. There is something magical about it and I have made many cards using this particular design. When we were children what would we have given to have had this view of Santa? For an embellishment I have used some die cut snowflakes. I have also added some jewels onto the snowflakes. And of course I just had to add some glitter onto Santas coat.
I'm still playing with my Grand Calibur and having a great time. I have been cutting more mats with the Tonic dies. And they are truly fabulous. Clean cuts every time...and when you're diecutting..that's what you want but don't always get. That's why on this blog I will always be honest..we only have a certain amount of money available for craft goodies and it's important to share what we find to be really good or as is sometimes the case..really bad.
One thing that I can really recommend is JB Crafting Supplies...for good service, quality and choice. If you ever need any craft goodies pop along and speak to Julie..there are links on here that will take you straight there..and have a look.
The cats are driving me slowly crazy today. Back and to out of the window and round and round the computer. Jeff..our youngest cat is chocolate crazy..if you have it, he can smell it at twenty paces and will hound you without mercy. Jeff is a black boy who is convinced that he is a panther. And by the size of his feet may well be growing that way. He loves all my lady cats and gets a smack most days from one of them. All my ladies are very opinionated girls. My ginger tom..called Icabod loves a dominant lady. The boss lady cat was an old girl called Pyewacket who sadly passed away last year and he was heartbroken. It has taken him a while..looking around all the house ladies and now his heart has settled on Twinkle. She is a black and white who arrived with brain damage and the temper to end everything. Well since she arrived  Twinkle has hated everyone but now she has given in  and now loves our Icabod. She would never let another animal touch her before, but now Iccy is allowed to wash her and lie with her. It's a very wonderful thing. And she slaps him every now and then...so he's also really happy..lol It takes all sorts.
Wherever you are and whatever you are doing..take care and happy crafting.

Fawn in the snow

Todays card is from Joanna Sheens Giordano Christmas cdrom. The backing paper is from an earlier Joanna cd and the embellishmentis made from the Signature die range and the Tattered Lace range. I put the embellishments on and then painted and glittered them.
Well it finally happened at 10.30 last night. It arrived. The it being my new Grand Calibur. I was so excited..I have only managed to have a little play and it was fab. I'm still trying to remember the plate order. It won't take long..I got to the point with my Cuttlebug that I didn't have to think. I have bought my first A4 embossing folder and it was great. I can see a hole arriving in my purse as I spot more embossing folders that I would like. I also bought some tonic dies..I've had a go and they were fabulous..a clean cut after only one pass through the machine. There are quite a few makes out there that I often want to throw through the window...you end up making multiple passes and adding more shims and it still isn't a perfect cut. Not the case with the Signature die range or the Tattered Lace. Nor it seems with Tonic.
So I'm off to play. The weather here in Snowdonia is glorious..all the cats are outside. No doubt trying to terrorize the local geese..it's a quest that they are going to lose. The geese will put up with it for so long and then you will see cats fleeing. An angry goose is enough to make anyone run. I hope that you have a great day..take care and happy crafting.

The Black Cat

Todays card is a very plain card for me but I felt that the image was so beautiful with so much detail that I added nothing apart from the glitter. The image is from Magical Christmas Moments from cupcake crafting..which is now Creative Crafting World. Their site is well worth a look..I've bought some really fab cds from there as well as having some really good deals on card. I have to say that on this cd there is not one image that I wouldn't be happy to use and in fact, I think that I have.
As most of you will know by now, I'm a big cat and dog fan..I always have been..and just can't resist a lovely image. At this very moment I'm being walked over by one of my cats..they really do like to be involved in everything you do. And another one has just jumped over my shoulder! Of course as far as they are concerned any time spent doing anything that doesn't involve fussing them is a waste of time. The worst time I have is when it's raining and I'm crafting...they can drive me crazy. Being disabled I have made myself a crafting corner by the window which gives me a view of the mountains and where I can watch the changing seasons. I have the window open most days and now the cats think that it is the biggest cat flap in the world. They go in and out by the window onto the studio roof (my parlour is upstairs by the way), down the holly tree and into the wild world. And then they come back. On warm days they all stretch out on the studio roof. All day they go back and to..always checking what is going on...they're so scared of missing something.
I'm still excited about the arrival of the Grand Calibur..I've had abother email stating that it should be here within the next 24 hours..we shall have to see. Keep your fingers crossed for me. So wherever you are I hope you have a great day..take care and happy crafting.
