Coming down out of the freezing sky with its depths of light, like an angel, or a Buddha with wings, it was beautiful, and accurate, striking the snow and whatever was there with a force that left the imprint of the tips of its wings — five feet apart — and the grabbing thrust of its feet, and the indentation of what had been running through the white valleys of the snow — and then it rose, gracefully, and flew back to the frozen marshes to lurk there, like a little lighthouse, in the blue shadows — so I thought: maybe death isn’t darkness, after all, but so much light wrapping itself around us — as soft as feathers — that we are instantly weary of looking, and looking, and shut our eyes, not without amazement, and let ourselves be carried, as through the translucence of mica, to the river that is without the least dapple or shadow, that is nothing but light — scalding, aortal light — in which we are washed and washed out of our bones. 31 Days of Halloween....Day 5

Todays page is for day 5 of the fabulous 31 Days of Halloween Challenge. This image is one of my favourites featuring a witch. I think why I like it so much is that it reminds me of being a little girl.  I spent a lot of my time leaning or sitting on fences or gates, dreaming away the hours. And some of the family animals would be with me. When I was about 6 I had a minature poodle called Suie..I don't know where that name came from but she was my constant companion. If I was in the fields, she was always with me and when I rode my bike..she would sit in the basket on the front. And there were always cats..inside and outside ones. They chose whether to live in or outside. There must have been about 16 on the farm. Some chose to sleep in the barn and the others scattered themselves everywhere else. I seem to have been destined to have a furry body on the end of the bed..or the top, depending how cold it is...lol. I suppose it was from my Grandmother that I got my love for animals. She always had lots of cats and dogs and could always been seen with an entourage of furry beasts. One of the questions I always ask myself over Halloween is why is it that most witches are drawn to be ugly. Surely if she was a good witch she would have used any powers until she was happy with herself? But then I think to myself that the real magic in life is to be happy with yourself..no matter what you look like. It's only in the past few years that I've noticed some good looking witches out there in digital designs..do you have a favourite digital designer who draws witches?..if you do then please share, as I'm always looking for new designs to work with.

Thankyou again to all of you who have commented. I will be visiting all the other wonderful blogs involved in this 31 days challenge..as soon as BT lets me. I have been able to visit a couple and what I have seen has blown my head..what fabulous creations. If you get the chance please visit the 31 days of Halloween Challenge.

The image that I've used is from the wonderful team over at A Day for Daisies. I just love their images..there seems to be something other worldly about them.

Well the sun is shining here in the mountains today and as usual all the cats have left home to frolick in the sunshine. Goodness help the rest of the village..lol. The only one to stay in is Raven..she is lay on my legs. She has a bit of passion for the wind and when it blows hard  she can be found running round the studio roof like a maniac. I always say that she likes the wind up her tail..lol.

Well the coffee is calling and then I've got some canvasses to put an undercoat on. At least that will keep me quiet..lol. I have so many projects on the edge of being finished..I shall have to get my head down and finish them. So until tomorrow..take care and happy crafting.

  1. I think the witch is great.
Good to know that they can stop and
smell the roses (or watch what is
going on in the world). She has her
friends with her - all is right in the
    world.
    thanks for sharing.
