Coming down out of the freezing sky with its depths of light, like an angel, or a Buddha with wings, it was beautiful, and accurate, striking the snow and whatever was there with a force that left the imprint of the tips of its wings — five feet apart — and the grabbing thrust of its feet, and the indentation of what had been running through the white valleys of the snow — and then it rose, gracefully, and flew back to the frozen marshes to lurk there, like a little lighthouse, in the blue shadows — so I thought: maybe death isn’t darkness, after all, but so much light wrapping itself around us — as soft as feathers — that we are instantly weary of looking, and looking, and shut our eyes, not without amazement, and let ourselves be carried, as through the translucence of mica, to the river that is without the least dapple or shadow, that is nothing but light — scalding, aortal light — in which we are washed and washed out of our bones. Decoupage Delights.....The Rose Queen

Today's card is a design team make for the fabulous company of Decoupage Delights. This image and backing paper are from their latest release..Marlene, Fashion and Flowers. For this card I have mounted the backing paper and image onto some burgundy card. I layered a strip of ribbon onto the backing paper layer and then added the image. I then decoupaged the roses and added a gold bow. I love the vintage images on this cd and the backing papers are fabulous. I have a bit of a passion for this type of backing paper..I think that they look quite Victorian/ Edwardian. It always reminds me of the wallpapers that my Grandmother always chose for her bedrooms. They always made you think that you were lying in a flowery bower. She also had a bedspread that was really heavy and covered with cherubs and roses. The background of it was burgundy and gold...I tend to think that it was the gypsy in her soul coming out. She had a passion for gold..the colour and the metal. It was always a shock to see her bedroom in contrast to her personality. She was  a strong, determined and out spoken lady..something that other people found hard to deal with at that time. I can only hope that I can take after her. A lot of people have told me that she was a hard woman..but I knew what she had to get through..and just makes me admire her more.

I am determined that today is going to mark the end of sorting the cupboard out. It is all empty now and I have got through the sorting, down to about 5 boxes and then I can hoover. Thank goodness. I am determined that when I finish this..I'm going to do it. I'm even sick of it now. I think that it's when you get down to the last few bits ...that's the worst time. I tend to go round and round in circles, holding one thing and thinking where the heck can this go...lol. My problem is 3 bibles from my mother...she kept them all her life..and I just can't part with them. I was talking to my friend the pa yesterday and she is having the same problem. There are just some things that we can't bring ourselves to part with. I may give them to one of my closest friends who is a vicar in case there is someone who would use them. I would still have the family bible from 1800..so we will have to see. I also need to find a place to put all the important paperwork. I think once I have found places for everything and everything has a place..things will feel better..lol

Well the coffee is calling and I feel that with a good dose of caffeine all will be well. I do hope that you will pop over to the Decoupage Delights facebook page and take a look at their wonderful cdroms. There is an offer on their Christmas cdrom..it is really packed with some wonderful vintage designs...it's something that you could work with for many Christmases to come. So until next time..take care and happy crafting.
