Coming down out of the freezing sky with its depths of light, like an angel, or a Buddha with wings, it was beautiful, and accurate, striking the snow and whatever was there with a force that left the imprint of the tips of its wings — five feet apart — and the grabbing thrust of its feet, and the indentation of what had been running through the white valleys of the snow — and then it rose, gracefully, and flew back to the frozen marshes to lurk there, like a little lighthouse, in the blue shadows — so I thought: maybe death isn’t darkness, after all, but so much light wrapping itself around us — as soft as feathers — that we are instantly weary of looking, and looking, and shut our eyes, not without amazement, and let ourselves be carried, as through the translucence of mica, to the river that is without the least dapple or shadow, that is nothing but light — scalding, aortal light — in which we are washed and washed out of our bones. The Crafting Musketeers....New Challenge and 31 Days of Halloween..Day 2

Today's creation is a design team make for the wonderful team over at The Crafting Musketeers. A new challenge has just begun and will run for the coming month. The theme for this month is boxes..so you have the choice of entering a decorated box or a card with the image of a box on it. My first box is a trick or treat box and forms part of my 31 days of Halloween Challenge.

At the Crafting Musketeers, we were lucky enough to have been sponsored by the fabulous team over at The Stamping Boutique. I so enjoyed working with both images..they have a wonderful selection of images available...why not pop over and take a look.

It has already been fun joining in with the 31 days of Halloween. Some recipients of the bowls of doom have been remembering and still can't work out what was in some. I will share some with you all in the coming weeks but will have to be careful not to reveal too much...after all there will be a new generation coming through who will need to enjoy the bowls of doom as well. I made this little trick or treat box thinking of the things that you could put in it. Perhaps it may have to have a huge spider in there and some chocolate pumpkins. I had a wonderful Halloween hair clip brought back for me from America. It was a gruesome hand and looks fab in your hair. My friends know me so well..lol.

The sun is shining here in the mountains today...and the bad language has been circulating round them..lol. Trying to get an internet connection continues to be a daily battle..lol. My friend tested the speed and I wasn't even half a meg..I was .175..nearly the worst that it's ever been but after 5 hours, I've managed to get on. You have to laugh, else the computer would be sailing out of the window. The cats are all happier today with the weather and have gone out to play. Every so often one will come in, have a few biscuits and then go back through the window. As I'm sat here the smell of Roast lamb is coming through the window and goodness me it smells good. I think that it's pasta tonight here.

Well the coffee is calling and then I have some painting to do. It's always best to try and do it without cat help..lol. My table is still bearing wonderful multi coloured pawprints from the last time..lol. So until tomorrow...take care and happy crafting.

Crafting Musketeers.....New Challenge

Today's card is a design team make for the wonderful Crafting Musketeers. A new challenge has just begun and will run for the next month. The theme for this challenge is Weddings. If you get the chance please pop over to the Crafting Musketeers blog and take a look at all the wonderful creations made by the rest of the team. They are a very inspiring bunch of crafters. The chapel image and the bride image are both from the fabulous Stamping Boutique. We are so lucky because they are our sponsors for this month. The design team worked with the same 3 images and all our cards are very different. To me that is the great thing about crafting..a group could all be given the same image and the creations would all be different.

For both of my makes, I decided to go a little gothy. One of my friends is getting married and she is a lot gothy but that it would be fun to make her a special card. The trouble is now I don't know which one to go with..lol. For the first card I created a background and then added the chapel and the bride, which Ihad coloured with my promarkers. The background was created using my Lyra watercolours. At the end, I added some flowersoft to give the illusion of flowerbeds and flowers climbing up the chapel. I love my flowersoft and don't think that I use it enough..I shall have to remedy that.

So if you get a chance pop over to the Stamping Boutique and take a look at all the wonderful digis that they have available.

The sun is shining here in the mountains today..the sky is blue as well as the air, after my trial with BT today. I was so angry I actually spoke to a lady in the Chairman's office. She rang my number to speak to a friend who has been having problems for over 2 years and just at that moment my internet had been off all morning..so I let rip. She must be thinking goodness me the people in that village!.. but I did point out that the service is so bad..a service that we are all paying for and getting fobbed off with excuses. Lets just see if anything happens now.

All the cats are outside, sunning themselves on the studio roof. I must tell you about last night. As I've told you before Simon is now Simon the Brave..the spider hunter. He growls at them and then eats them. Well last night in bed, I was reading my book and Simon came on the bed. Suddenly he looked over my shoulder and started growling. I was immediately frozen..knowing what that growl meant. I looked over my shoulder and saw a spider. It must have been a big one because I could see it with out my glasses on..but all was well..Simon the Brave dealt with it. He is now officially my hero. I'm seriously considering renting him out to my spider hating friends..lol

Well the coffee is calling and then I'll have to get on with some work. I hope that the weather is being kind to you wherever you are. Peace is still reigning here with the sun shining down on the little furry bodies...lol. So until tomorrow..take care and happy crafting.

The Crafting Musketeers....New Challenge

Todays cards are design team makes for the fabulous team at The Crafting Musketeers. A new challenge has just begun and will run for the next month. The theme is Monochrome..not just black and white as I first thought but also includes shades of the same colour. So thinking of this I did my first card in shades of pink. My second card I made I stayed with black and white because I wanted to zentangle the cap.

We are so lucky this month to have 2 wonderful sponsors...The Stamping Boutique and Glitterbabe. It's worth spending a little time and browsing through the wonderful images that are available from both sources. I am lucky to be able to work with fabulous images, drawn by very talented people.

The weather here in the mountains today is quite calm..which seems to be a real blessing after the weather that we have had. Even so the cats have all settled down for naps...the peace is unbelievable. Yesterday I managed for the first time in ages to do some sewing. I haven't sewn for an age and was quite pleased that I haven't forgotten how to load a bobbin or  thread the machine. I am going to cut some patchwork out over the next few days to sew at the weekend. I have also cut out 2 cat toys..hopefully they will like them..I intend to fill them with catnip and then watch the fun...lol.

Well the coffee is calling and I have some work to do. I've already decided to do an easy dinner..we going to have chips with fresh baked sausage rolls. There is also gooseberry crumble left for pudding. We shall have a healthy dinner tomorrow..lots of vegetables to make up for tonights treat. The colouring pens and the caffeine are calling...so until next time..take care and happy crafting.

A Snowflakes Promise...A New Challenge

Todays cards are design team makes for the great team over at A Snowflakes Promise Challenge Blog. I do hope that you will pop on over and join in the fun. For this fortnights challenge we have been lucky enough to be sponsored by The Stamping Boutique. The images are fantastic and well worth adding to your collection of digis. I so love the two designs that I was lucky enough to work with.

The top image is called 'My little christmas presents Audrey' and I so enjoyed crafting with her. I coloured her with my promarkers, cut her out into an oblong shape and matted her onto some green card. I then took 2 pieces of christmas themed paper and mounted both them onto the same green card. I then layered the three on to the card and added my embellishments. I die cut a gold poinsettia and some green foliage and added that. Finally a bow made from twine.

The card below is made with the image 'Hippy Christmas', which just made me smile.

For this card, I began by laying a pale blue card covered in snowflakes onto some blue mirri. I then created a border using the same blue mirri. I then painted a layer of snow on to the top of the border and of course had to sprinkle the glitter onto the paint whilst it was still wet. I coloured the image with my promarkers and then cut it out. I added this to the card and finally added the greeting, ribbon and snowflake charm.

Well the coffee is calling and I've lots of work to do. I don't know what time I will be able to blog tomorrow or Thursday as the village is going to be out of electric. And I have to say that my cottage is as dark as night without any electric. No doubt the cats will blame me..lol. I do hope that you will pop over to a Snowflakes Promise and take a look at the other team members fantastic work. So until next time...take care and happy crafting.
