Coming down out of the freezing sky with its depths of light, like an angel, or a Buddha with wings, it was beautiful, and accurate, striking the snow and whatever was there with a force that left the imprint of the tips of its wings — five feet apart — and the grabbing thrust of its feet, and the indentation of what had been running through the white valleys of the snow — and then it rose, gracefully, and flew back to the frozen marshes to lurk there, like a little lighthouse, in the blue shadows — so I thought: maybe death isn’t darkness, after all, but so much light wrapping itself around us — as soft as feathers — that we are instantly weary of looking, and looking, and shut our eyes, not without amazement, and let ourselves be carried, as through the translucence of mica, to the river that is without the least dapple or shadow, that is nothing but light — scalding, aortal light — in which we are washed and washed out of our bones. Christmas Holly

Todays card is a very traditional card but I love it. The image is from a topper sheet, as is the border. It really is handy to have some of these sheets in your stash..just to be able to make a few cards without any real thought is something that we may all need in the run up to the christmas season. The backing paper is from my stash and toned into the topper really nicely. All that I have added is some peeloff edging and a greeting. How is your christmas crafting going?I still feel that I'm up to my knees in glitter and holly leaves..lol. I'm hoping to get a bit more organised today. I intend to sort out my backing papers and my backing card out. I have managed to finish a lot of toppers..mounted them and glittered..so all I need to do is put them on a card and embellish. But please don't mention inserts...for sme reason I have a mental block with inserts and always seem to leave them until one day I have no choice but to spent all day doing them. Some people say to me why on earth do I bother..but I think that they really do make a difference to the finished card. I have been doing inserts for so long now..it actually looks wrong to me without one.

Well it's really cold here in the mountains today..I think Jack Frost may be visiting the valley tonight. I really for the people in America who have had the snow arrive..so thick..so much. What I saw on the news amazed me..it really looked like that someone had just thrown buckets of the stuff straight onto them. People trapped in cars for 48 hours. It got me thinking back to the winter of 2009/2010. We had snow for ages and it was so cold that all my vegetables froze. Everyone was phoning me asking me about their fridges and I was telling them that it was because it was colder in the kitchen than it was inside the fridge and the fridges has switched themselves off. Unbelievable. I have a friend who lives in the north of Canada and they use the fridges to stop their food from freezing. It's so cold there that the fridge is the thing preventing all their vegetables from freezing solid. I remember here I lost a lot of vegetables because over the festive season, I kept them in the shed. That year it froze so hard..it all froze..lettuce, tomatoes, swede, sprouts..all rock hard. The icicles were so long and thick it looked like we had bars on the windows. The cats were so funny in the snow. I remember watching Icabod trying to get back over the road without touching the snow. It was so funny. The snow was so deep that when he jumped he disappeared. All you saw was this ginger cat jumping high, disappearing and jumping again trying to stop himself landing. It must have been the longest journey he had ever had..lol. I can't wait to see what Jeffrey makes of the snow..if we have any. Last year he was too young to go out so he really hasn't had the experience. I personally can't wait. I will have my camera at the ready so that I can share it with you. Mind you I'm waiting to see how the wheelchair will fair in the snow as well. I've got myself some trainers that will hopefully have a lit more grip.

Well the coffee is calling and I have some serious organising to do. First though, I have a serious pile of printing to do. I have to get some ideas out of my head and onto a card. So until tomorrow.take care and happy crafting

  1. Really pretty card. The peeloffs really set it off and finish it. Christmas is fast approaching. I too leave inserts till last. I try to design them on the computer but the printing and inserting struggle to get done. Ah well. Kay

  2. Lovely card, very traditional. Let's hope we don't get any snow this year especially as I'm in work on Boxing Day!
