Coming down out of the freezing sky with its depths of light, like an angel, or a Buddha with wings, it was beautiful, and accurate, striking the snow and whatever was there with a force that left the imprint of the tips of its wings — five feet apart — and the grabbing thrust of its feet, and the indentation of what had been running through the white valleys of the snow — and then it rose, gracefully, and flew back to the frozen marshes to lurk there, like a little lighthouse, in the blue shadows — so I thought: maybe death isn’t darkness, after all, but so much light wrapping itself around us — as soft as feathers — that we are instantly weary of looking, and looking, and shut our eyes, not without amazement, and let ourselves be carried, as through the translucence of mica, to the river that is without the least dapple or shadow, that is nothing but light — scalding, aortal light — in which we are washed and washed out of our bones. Left of Center....New Challenge

Todays canvas is a design team make for the fantastic team over at Left of Center Creative Challenges. A new challenge has just begun and it has the theme of Old fashioned Horror. The theme will last for the next week..and it's perfect with Halloween coming along.
We are so lucky this week to have been sponsored by the wonderful team over at A Day For Daisies.

For my canvas I decided to work with this beautiful image of the lady and the spiders. I painted the canvas with my paints..pearlescent and acylic and then added the lady which I had coloured with my promarkers and then cut out. I then added the spider andthe web to the corner of the canvas. To me this sums up old fashioned horror which was always more in your mind than actuality. I can imagine waking covered in spiders and that is quite enough horror for me..lol This canvas is going to live in my bathroom alongside all the actual spiders that visit. I already have a spider based canvas in there...so I'm thinking that a theme is developing.

All the cats are well and the kittens seem to be growing rapidly. The smallest is still the black and white one but he seems to be the stroppy one of the bunch. When I pick him up to check him..he spits and hisses..how's that for 7 days old. He's not scared at all...goodness what he will be like when he grows up. The tabby kitten that has colouring most like his Mum, is the one that wants to be out..even though he can't see yet he makes his way to the front of the pen. I'm hoping that my friend Pretty will be here for the first days of weaning..it is the hardest and the funniest time with kittens.Pretty is very good at catching them when they run off..lol He's had years of experience..lol

Well the coffee is calling and Virgo man is here hoovering for me..bless him. I've got lots of painting to do this weekend..I'm hopefully going to do the new house sign..I've decided that I'm going to do orange flowers for Henry and a skull because he loved them so much. Something different I think.I will be back later with another design team make. So until then...take care and happy crafting.
