Coming down out of the freezing sky
with its depths of light,
like an angel, or a Buddha with wings,
it was beautiful, and accurate,
striking the snow and whatever was there
with a force that left the imprint
of the tips of its wings — five feet apart —
and the grabbing thrust of its feet,
and the indentation of what had been running
through the white valleys of the snow —
and then it rose, gracefully,
and flew back to the frozen marshes
to lurk there, like a little lighthouse,
in the blue shadows —
so I thought:
maybe death isn’t darkness, after all,
but so much light wrapping itself around us —
as soft as feathers —
that we are instantly weary of looking, and looking,
and shut our eyes, not without amazement,
and let ourselves be carried,
as through the translucence of mica,
to the river that is without the least dapple or shadow,
that is nothing but light — scalding, aortal light —
in which we are washed and washed
out of our bones.

The Kissing Bough
Todays card is another I made for the new challenge that has just started over at the Gruffies and Guests Challenge Blog. The theme was Fall or Anything goes.I chose to make this card featuring these two cute mice.I cut out some spare leaves from the backing paper to create the border. The image is from the House Mouse Triple cdrom brought to us by Joanna Sheen.I love the colours in this image and backing paper and think that they are perfect for Autumn. What is it about Autumn that makes me feel cosy? I've always loved this season but it always makes me think of new shoes..lol. Strange you may think but when I was little a new autumn term meant new shoes bought to see you hopefully through the winter. And you just weren't ready to let go of your sandals...and for some reason I can't remember but we always called them Jesus sandals. Can anyone remember why they were given this name?I've noticed the leaves starting to change..the colours are amazing..I once read about a lady who collected autumn leaves, dried them and then varnished them. She then used them to decorate her studio. I wonder if it would work..could you capture the colours and for how long..I may have to give it a try.
I had such great plans for yesterday and they didn't come to very much. It was one of those days when everything I tried just went wrong..lol. As it stands I have 2 cards nearly finished, I skull half painted, I baby hanging heart nearly finished, one painting half done and a pile of work still to be done. And today Ihave to do some work ready for posting on my JB Crafting Supplies design team. I'm hoping that it goes well today. I think it may be a case of getting my head down and just keeping on. First thing though is to find a poem that I was thinking of by Maya Angelou..it's been going round my head in bits..I need to find it. Wherever I get to tomorrow, I will photograph it to share all the chaos with you.
Well the coffee is calling, so until tomorrow take care and happy crafting
