Left of Center....New Challenge

Today's card is a design team make for the wonderful team over at Left of Center Creative Challenges. A new challenge has just begun and will run for the next week. The theme for the challenge is Creepmas/ Christmas. And of course, as always, you have the option of going LOC. Our sponsor for this challenge is the fantastic Karleigh Sue. This card is inspired by the non pc 1970s..I have been watching some 70s based videos and can't quite believe what we considered ok or funny back then. Even though some of it just seems wrong a lot was really funny and seemed to be a lot freer..before the world went over the top pc. The backing paper is also 70s inspired..bold design and bright colours..I just love it.

What a week. I am amazed that I have managed to find myself a way out of the glitter, ink and card pile. I have been ensconced in my corner beavering away. Yesterday I couldn't move..I had so many projects around me drying..the cats spent the day driving me insane. As soon as the paint palette comes out the cats arrive around me. My table is becoming beautifully coloured by paint and paw prints. Even though I have kept working all last week ...my list of things to do doesn't seem to be going down..lol. My Christmas cards seem to be heading further away...I'm trying to finish all the things for other people before I start my own..but the phone keeps ringing. It's as if the rest of the world has just noticed that Christmas is coming soon. I may end up white haired by the time it arrives..lol At the moment all the cats are outside...no doubt causing chaos around the village. I had to smile yesterday..Sparkle went for lunch with his son and his Grandchildren and I just had to smile. His little grand daughter had painted his nails. Sunshine will love this..when he came round his nails were pink and sparkling..such a good look on him..lol. I wish I had taken a photo now. Well the coffee is calling and then it will be back to the grind..lol. I'm really loving every moment but just wish that I had more hours in the day. I shall hit the caffeine and then back to the glitter. So until next time...take care and happy crafting.

Left of Center......New Challenge

Today's creation is a design team make for the wonderful team over at Left of Center creative Challenges. I just love being on this team because I get to work with such a wide variety of images and sometimes it takes me out of my comfort zone...which I love. Today, a new challenge is just about to begin and will run for the following week. The theme for this weeks challenge is Stars. Of course, as usual, you have the option of going LOC. The image that I have chosen to work with is from Karleigh Sue.

For my creation, I was lucky enough to find this sentiment which fitted perfectly with my way of thinking and also fitted with the stars theme. I coloured the lady with my promarkers and then cut her out. I created the background using a piece of paper from my stash that had the star constellations on it and added the coloured image to it.

I thought that I would share my thoughts with you that came up when I was creating this project. When I began..seeing this image of the lady wearing not a lot and having tattoos..it made me think of my Mother. She was a very strange lady herself and had some strange ideas about morals and the way people lived. I grew up thinking that she was my sister and have to say didn't get on with her even then. Despite the fact that she didn't want me and thought that that itself was ok......she was forever telling me off for my chosen lifestyle. When I was younger I helped in a pub and she hated that and then over the years I coloured my hair many times and had tattoos..and she always had something nasty to say. I found it very strange because we had in fact been raised by the same woman and my Grandmother always taught me to judge people by their actions not by their appearance. My Grandmother had many many friends from many walks of life and they were always welcome at her home. My Mother didn't like many people at all and always looked down on people...I don't know why..I would have loved to understand her but she never let me in. So I suppose in a way, I just had to use this image to celebrate the differences in us all.

It's raining here in the mountains today and despite this the kittens are in and out like yo-yos. Simon has just ran through with a large stick in his mouth. He was just so pleased with himself and won't let any one else near his prize..lol. They are growing so quickly now but they are all different sizes. Simon is getting very large..I think that he may take after his uncle Jeffrey..he certainly talks alot..he has a comment on everything..lol. Gannie is getting to be a chubby little boy..he's really stocky and is still in love with his food bowl. And finally Nosey..he is just so thin and long..everything about him is so lanky..he's all legs and is so long in the body. It's so strange that they're brothers and all look so different but come bedtime..they're all the same..they're on the bed..lol

Left of Center.....Owls for Henry

Todays creation above is made for the wonderful design team over at the Left of Center Creative Challenges.

We are lucky enough this week to have two sponsors..The Enchanted Design Studio, featuring the wonderful art work of Concetta Kilmer. And Karleigh Sue Digi Stamps. The theme for this week is Tic Tac Toe..it's really simple..please pop over to the blog for more details.

My first creation features the Spring Fling Owls...which of course I had to do in memory of Henry. And to continue with the theme..they had to be orange..lol. The fine line digi is just one of the beautiful artworks over at The Enchanted Design Studio. I decided to do a little canvas which can go on the wall. I first coloured the whole canvas using white and blue acrylics and let it dry. I then added leaves to either side using my yellow and green acrylics. The actual owls, I coloured with my promarkers and then cut out. I glued them to the canvas using some Pinflair glue gel.

For my second creation, I decided to make a card using the image Raven from the Karleigh Sue range. I had so much fun colouring her and deciding on her clothes.

She made me think of my punk days..lol. Though I have to admit that I never wore short skirts.I did have a top covered with skulls and my skirts always came to the ground.Thinking about it...my style hasn't changed that much..my hair is green and my skirts still come to the ground..lol. For the card...I coloured Raven with my promarkers and then cut her out and mounted the image onto some holographic silver board. I edged this with some silvered ribbon.I created the border with a feather, some flowers and a black and white ribbon.The chances are that in my punk days, everything that I've added to my border here would have been added to my outfit.

Well the coffee is calling and the sun is shining here in the mountains. I have a pile of work to get on with.
