Coming down out of the freezing sky
with its depths of light,
like an angel, or a Buddha with wings,
it was beautiful, and accurate,
striking the snow and whatever was there
with a force that left the imprint
of the tips of its wings — five feet apart —
and the grabbing thrust of its feet,
and the indentation of what had been running
through the white valleys of the snow —
and then it rose, gracefully,
and flew back to the frozen marshes
to lurk there, like a little lighthouse,
in the blue shadows —
so I thought:
maybe death isn’t darkness, after all,
but so much light wrapping itself around us —
as soft as feathers —
that we are instantly weary of looking, and looking,
and shut our eyes, not without amazement,
and let ourselves be carried,
as through the translucence of mica,
to the river that is without the least dapple or shadow,
that is nothing but light — scalding, aortal light —
in which we are washed and washed
out of our bones.

Sunday Tea
Todays card is a lovely image from One Summers Day by Joanna Sheen. The rose banner at the bottom is made using a die from Tattered Lace.I really love the whole lace, china and flowers look. I live in hope that one day my house will be a little like this. But I fear it will never be...there are too many cats sharing my space. I have the feeling that any white lace tablecloth will suffer from little black pawprints and the need to hide any cakes would rather spoil the look. Any flowers I have obviously need to be sniffed and if the chance appears they need to be removed from the vase and pulled around the house...lol
Today is the first day in a long while that I couldn't manage to wheel Reg. I had to ask my friend to walk him for me as my leg had swollen badly and needed to be put up. I had to laugh though..when I was trying to walk, I had the definate look of John Wayne...I was walking as if I had been riding a horse for a fortnight. Fingers crossed I'll be back to normal tomorrow. The weather here is lovely again..the cats are spread out on the studio roof enjoying every moment of it.There are some of the cats that haven't been home for a couple of days but I know what they're like...in weather like this they tend to find themselves somewhere cool during the day and during the cooler night they do their hunting. At the first sight of any rain, everyone will be home.
Well the coffee is calling and some die cutting is needed. So off I'll toddle...I hope that you are having a good weekend..so until tomorrow..take care and happy crafting
