Coming down out of the freezing sky
with its depths of light,
like an angel, or a Buddha with wings,
it was beautiful, and accurate,
striking the snow and whatever was there
with a force that left the imprint
of the tips of its wings — five feet apart —
and the grabbing thrust of its feet,
and the indentation of what had been running
through the white valleys of the snow —
and then it rose, gracefully,
and flew back to the frozen marshes
to lurk there, like a little lighthouse,
in the blue shadows —
so I thought:
maybe death isn’t darkness, after all,
but so much light wrapping itself around us —
as soft as feathers —
that we are instantly weary of looking, and looking,
and shut our eyes, not without amazement,
and let ourselves be carried,
as through the translucence of mica,
to the river that is without the least dapple or shadow,
that is nothing but light — scalding, aortal light —
in which we are washed and washed
out of our bones.

Dog in the flowers
Todays card is made for a friend and features this amazing image of a wire haired dachshund.I used some background paper from my stash which is actually from the Hollypond Hill cdrom by Joanna Sheen. I mounted that onto some dark blue card and edged them oth with a glitter peeloff. I then die cut some flower shapes and coloured them using my distress ink. I then added some jewels. The reason I made this card is because the lady who is to receive this card breeds this type of dog and I thought it would be nice for her to receive one with her special type of dog on it.
I know that I missed blogging yesterday..the day just seemed to get away from me. I had visitors and have to admit to having a great day but it's a wonder that I have any voice left..I don't think I stopped talking until bedtime.I was also visited by Doodles the dog. I have to say that he was the perfect guest. he took over one of Regs beds and settled down amazingly well. The only upset that we nearly had was when Jeffrey arrived home after a night on the tiles. He suddenly noticed Doodles and spent about an hour staring at him. If he could have spoken it would have been a case of 'who the heck are you and what are you doing in that basket'...it was so funny..lol. Reg wasn't bothered at all..he just stayed in his basket.
I've lots to do today..lots of cards to finish and lots to start. Such is my life. The builder was too busy to come on Friday and is now coming on Monday.I think that he is really an international man of mystery..he spends his weeks going up and down the country doing various jobs...I only wish that I had just 1p for every mile that he covered...I think that I'd never have to work again. I often feel like putting a small tracking device on him just to count the miles...lol. My friend..the PA is his wife and I've come to the conclusion that she must have a brain like a very good computer..just keeping up with his jobs and his phonecalls. She definitely gets my vote as Superwoman of the valley. I get exhausted just remembering what she's doing ..let alone keeping track of the wandering builder..lol
Well the coffee is calling and I think that caffeine is needed in a big way. I had Jeffrey stroking my face at 5 a.m. telling me that I needed to get up and feed him. And he would not give up. At the moment he is fast asleep downstairs..I think I need to go down and wake him up..lol. So until tomorrow..take care and happy crafting
